What is EOG?

Economic Opportunity Grant (EOG) is a grant program to help organizations in Los Angeles County that have been adversely affected by COVID-19.

 

What is Phase 1 for Microbusinesses?

Phase 1 is a $2,500 grant for businesses located in LA County with under $50,000 in revenue and 5 or fewer employees. The grant launched January 25th and is currently accepting applications

 

How do I know if my business qualifies?

  1. For-profit business with $50,000 or less in annual gross revenue receipts in the 2019 taxable year
  2. Business must have started prior to December 31, 2019, and be currently active and operating
  3. Located and operating in the County of Los Angeles, including City of Los Angeles
  4. Five or fewer full time equivalent employees currently and in the 2019 and 2020 taxable years
  5. Must have filed business taxes in 2019.
  6. Did not receive the California Relief Grant
  7. Must demonstrate proof of business (see Documents Required below)

 

Which documents do I need to apply?

  • Signed and unaltered Federal 2019 tax returns (upload ALL pages) 
  • One of the following documents as proof of business 
    • Articles of Incorporation (for corporations)
    • Certificate of Organization (for LLCs)
    • Fictitious Business Name Filing (for sole proprietors who filed a DBA)
    • Government-Issued Business License
    • If the current license is unavailable, an expired business license with proof of renewal payment has been made
    • Professional License (for example, barber, cosmetology, etc)
    • Sellers Permit
  • Government-issued or foreign photo ID for business principals, which may include Matricula Cards or Passport
  • Valid bank account (required) 
  • Signed Applicant Certification form (you can find this on the appliation website)

Are there any business types that are ineligible for the EOG grant?

EOG Program funds are ineligible for the following business or nonprofit types

  • Publicly traded companies;
  • Corporate-owned franchises;
  • Financial institutions, such as banks, lenders, payday lenders, auto title lenders, check cashers, other businesses whose stock in trade is money and mortgages, and other similar entities;
  • Insurance companies, such as life, auto, home, bail bond, and other similar entities;
  • Private or social clubs;
  • Pawn shops;
  • Astrology, Palm Reading;
  • Liquor stores, nightclubs;
  • Lobbying firms or businesses that dedicate 50% or more of their time or resources to lobbying activities;
  • Businesses that engage in gambling activities, such as Bingo parlors, casinos;
  • Trailer storage and junk yards;
  • Businesses that present live performances of a sexual nature;
  • Businesses that generate income through activities performed in violation of state or federal law, including the sale, cultivation, or transportation of marijuana;
  • Businesses that exist for the purpose of advancing partisan political activities;
  • Gun or ammunition stores; or
  • Businesses or organizations debarred, suspended, or convicted of a felony under the laws of the United States Government.
